The Malaysia International Rescue Extrication Challenge (MIREC), which was held for the first time, involved the participation of rescue teams from seven countries. Director General of Fire and Rescue Malaysia (JBPM) Datuk Hamdan Wahid said the countries involved were Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Macau, Singapore, Hong Kong and the Philippines as observers.
